Every Medicare Supplement plan with the same letter pays the same benefits, whichever company sells it. That is what makes a comparison chart useful: once you know what each letter pays, you only need to shop for price.

Below is the full benefit chart for 2027, followed by the dollar amounts each row refers to and the 2027 limits for Plans K and L. The 2027 Dollar Amounts Behind Each Row

A chart of percentages is easier to judge once you know the dollars. These are the Original Medicare amounts each row covers, using CMS figures where final and Medicare Trustees projections where CMS has not yet announced.

Chart row2027 amountPlans that pay it in full
Part A deductible$1,788 per benefit period (projected)B, C, D, F, G, N
Part B deductible$292 (projected)C, F
Part B coinsurance20% of approved amounts, no cap in Original MedicareA, B, C, D, F, G, M, and N except copays
Part B excess chargesUp to 15% above Medicare’s approved amountF, G
High-deductible F and G deductible$3,050 (CMS)Paid by you before high-deductible plans pay

Projected figures come from the 2026 Medicare Trustees Report; CMS normally announces final Part A and B amounts in November.

Why the Part B coinsurance row matters most: Original Medicare has no yearly out-of-pocket cap. The 20% Part B share on a cancer treatment or surgery can reach tens of thousands of dollars, and every plan except K and L pays it in full.

Plan K and Plan L: How the 2027 Limits Work

Medicare Supplement plans comparison chart 2027: Plan K and Plan L out-of-pocket limits

Plans K and L are the only Medicare Supplement plans with a yearly out-of-pocket cap. They pay part of each cost until you reach the cap, then 100% of covered costs for the rest of the calendar year.

Plan KPlan L
Share of most gaps the plan pays50%75%
2027 out-of-pocket limit$8,360$4,180

2027 limits from CMS. The Part B deductible counts toward the limit but is not paid by either plan.

Both plans usually cost less than Plan G. If you are weighing them, add the 2027 cap to a year of premium and compare that total with Plan G’s yearly premium plus the projected $292 Part B deductible.

Reading the Chart for the Most Popular Plans

Medicare Supplement plans comparison chart 2027: Plan G vs Plan F differences

Plan G versus Plan F. The only row that differs is the Part B deductible. F pays it, G does not, and F is closed to anyone new to Medicare since 2020.

Plan G versus Plan N. N drops excess charges and adds small office and ER copays. Every other row matches.

Plan N versus Plan D. D has no copays but skips excess charges too, and in many areas N is the more widely sold plan.

Plan M. Pays half the Part A deductible and is rarely offered, so check whether any company sells it in your state.

What the Chart Does Not Show: Price

The chart tells you what a plan pays, never what it costs. Price depends on the company, your age, ZIP code, gender and tobacco use. New Jersey’s official September 2026 chart for a 65-year-old man shows how far apart prices are for the same benefits.

PlanLowest monthly priceHighest monthly price
Plan G$164.31$299.88
Plan N$119.90$200.84
High-deductible Plan G$50.83$92.08

Source: NJ Division of Aging Services, September 2026 rates. Your state’s prices will differ.

Use the benefits chart to pick your letter, then compare that letter’s price across companies. Our guide to comparing Medicare Supplement plans lists what to ask beyond price.

What No Medicare Supplement Plan Covers

Prescription drugs. Plans sold today do not include drug coverage. You need a Part D plan, which in 2027 has a deductible of up to $700 and a $2,400 out-of-pocket cap.

Routine dental, vision and hearing. Original Medicare does not cover most of these, so a supplement has no share to pay.

Long-term custodial care. Help with daily living in a nursing home is not covered by Medicare or Medicare Supplement plans.

If these extras matter more to you than broad doctor choice, compare the trade-offs in our Medicare Advantage guide.

Bottom Line

The 2027 Medicare Supplement comparison chart shows that Plans F and G pay the most, Plan N pays nearly as much with small copays, and Plans K and L cap your yearly costs at $8,360 and $4,180. Use the chart to choose your letter, then compare that same letter’s price across companies, because the benefits never differ.

Medicare Supplement Comparison Chart 2027 — Frequently Asked Questions

➤ What does a Medicare Supplement comparison chart show?

It shows which of the 10 standardized plans pays each cost Original Medicare leaves behind, such as the Part A deductible, Part B coinsurance and excess charges. It does not show prices.

➤ Did the Medicare Supplement chart change for 2027?

The benefits on the chart did not change. The dollar amounts behind it did, including the $3,050 high-deductible F and G deductible and the $8,360 and $4,180 Plan K and L limits.

➤ Which plan on the chart covers the most?

Plan F covers every row, but only people eligible for Medicare before 2020 can buy it. For everyone else, Plan G covers every row except the Part B deductible.

➤ What is the difference between Plan G and Plan N on the chart?

Plan N does not cover Part B excess charges and adds copays of up to $20 for some office visits and up to $50 for ER visits that do not lead to admission. All other rows are the same.

➤ Do all states use the same chart?

All states except Massachusetts, Minnesota and Wisconsin use the same 10 lettered plans. Those three states standardize their plans differently.

➤ Why do Plans K and L show percentages?

They pay 50% (K) or 75% (L) of most gaps until you reach the yearly limit, then 100% for the rest of the year. The 2027 limits are $8,360 and $4,180.

➤ Is the Part B deductible on the chart final for 2027?

Not yet. The $292 figure is the Medicare Trustees’ projection, and CMS usually announces the final amount in November.

➤ Does the chart include drug coverage?

No. Medicare Supplement plans do not cover prescriptions, so you would add a separate Part D plan.
