Wellabe (Medico Insurance Co.) Plan G, man 65, NJ September 2026 chart

Wellabe is a newer name in Medicare Supplement insurance, but the company behind it is not new. American Enterprise Group, based in Des Moines, Iowa, moved all of its brands under the single Wellabe name in June 2023. The policies themselves are still written by its long-standing Medico insurance companies.

Below you will find where Wellabe sells, the plans it offers, how its prices compare with other companies on an official state chart, and when Plan N makes more sense than Plan G with this carrier. For a refresher on the plan letters, see our Medicare Supplement plans 2027 overview.

Who Is Behind the Wellabe Name

Wellabe Medicare Supplement plans 2027 timeline from the Medico brand change to 28 states

The brand change took effect June 26, 2023. The name is short for “We’ll always be.” The parent company kept its insurance subsidiaries, so a Wellabe Medicare Supplement policy is legally issued by one of three Medico companies.

Medico Insurance Company. The underwriter named on the Wellabe consumer brochure and on New Jersey’s and Maryland’s official rate charts.

Medico Corp Life Insurance Company. Listed as the Medigap seller in Kentucky’s and Iowa’s 2026 state guides.

Medico Life and Health Insurance Company. The third issuing company named in Wellabe’s 2025 expansion announcement.

If you once had a Medico policy, see our Medico Medicare Supplement plans 2027 page for what the brand change meant for existing policyholders.

Where Wellabe Sells Medigap Going Into 2027

1

September 2024. Wellabe began selling in Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Delaware and New Hampshire.

2

December 30, 2024. It stopped selling new policies in Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Utah and West Virginia. Existing policyholders there kept their coverage.

3

February 1, 2025. California, Maryland and New Jersey were added, bringing the total to 28 states.

Check your state: Because Wellabe both added and dropped states within a few months, confirm it is open for new business where you live before you plan around it.

What Wellabe Charges on New Jersey's Official Chart

Wellabe Medicare Supplement plans 2027 Plan G versus Plan N trade-offs and New Jersey prices

New Jersey’s Division of Aging Services publishes every company’s Medigap premium. On the September 2026 chart for a 65-year-old man (preferred rates), Medico Insurance Company is listed with these monthly prices.

Plan (NJ, man 65)Wellabe / MedicoLowest on chartWellabe vs lowest (our math)
Plan G$207.42$164.31+$43.11/mo, +$517.32/yr
Plan N$144.45$119.90+$24.55/mo, +$294.60/yr
High-deductible G$71.56$50.83+$20.73/mo, +$248.76/yr

NJ Division of Aging Services Medigap chart, September 2026 (revised 8/26/2026). The highest Plan G on the chart was $299.88.

That puts Wellabe’s Plan G well below the most expensive company on the chart but about $43 a month above the cheapest. Any household discount you qualify for would narrow that gap.

Wellabe Plan G or Plan N? Our Break-Even Math

Wellabe’s Plan N costs $62.97 a month less than its Plan G on the New Jersey chart, or $755.64 a year. Plan N’s trade-off is a copay of up to $20 for some office visits, up to $50 for an ER visit that does not lead to admission, and no coverage for Part B excess charges.

Yearly scenario (NJ, man 65)Plan G totalPlan N total
Premiums only$2,489.04$1,733.40
Plus the projected $292 Part B deductible$2,781.04$2,025.40
Plan N with 12 office copays of $20$2,781.04$2,265.40
Plan N with 12 copays and 2 ER visits$2,781.04$2,365.40

Our calculation. Both plans leave you the Part B deductible, projected at $292 for 2027.

Break-even: With Wellabe’s New Jersey prices it would take about 38 copay visits at $20 in one year before Plan N cost more than Plan G. Excess charges are the bigger risk, so check whether your doctors accept Medicare assignment.

How Wellabe Rate Increases Have Worked

Attained-age policies go up for two reasons: you get older, and the company files increases for everyone in your plan. Wellabe’s broker materials say it targets rate increases of 5% to 8%. A Tennessee report of filings from June 2023 to June 2024 shows Medico Corp Life at 9.9% for some policies, so actual changes can run higher than the target.

Ask for history. Ask how much your Wellabe plan has risen in your state over the last three years.

Compare totals. Compare the yearly cost after the household discount, not just the monthly sticker price.

Time your switch. If you want to switch later, remember that most states let the company ask health questions outside your open enrollment period.

To weigh Wellabe against other carriers, start with our guide to comparing Medicare Supplement plans for 2027 and the Plan G 2027 page.

Bottom Line

Wellabe is the brand name for Medigap policies written by the Medico insurance companies, now sold in 28 states with an A (Excellent) AM Best rating. On New Jersey’s September 2026 chart its Plan G was mid-priced and its Plan N saved about $756 a year, so price both letters, and ask about the household discount before you choose.
